Knox County Fair Rules bus race

Note: Buses do not need to be purchased from fairboard to race.

1. ALL participants will sign a notorized waiver to participate.
2. ALL participants shall be 18 years old with a valid drivers license.
3. ALL participants are subject to a breathalyzer test prior to race.
4. Participants shall provide mandatory safety equipment including helmet/eye protection and chin strap, shoes, long pants and shirt.
5. Participants will wear seat or safety belts. No riders.
6. Participants shall attend a mandatory dirver's meeting prior to the race.
7. No body parts may extend outside the vehicle at any time.
8. Participants shall not be pregnant.
9. Vehicles must remain street legal with the exception of additional radiator protection not extending beyond the front bumper.
10. Additional water tanks for cooling shall be securely fastened and a minimum of 10 feet from driver. Glass must be removed with the exception of windshield.
11. Front bumpers must be cut to within 6 inches of the edge of the frame.
12. Fuel must be free of additives; NO NITROUS OXIDE.
13. NO INTENTIONAL CONTACT OF THE DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.
14. Drivers will not back into another bus. Buses must be moved forward unless they are trapped and will wait until it is clear to do so. THIS IS A RACE NOT A DEMO DERBY! Violations will result in disqualifications.
15. All vehicles are subject to inspection by the committee. JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
16. ABSOLUTELY NO REFUND OF ENTRY FEES FOR RULE VIOLATIONS.
17. Ownership of buses must be assumed by participant or business for $1100.00. Participant is responsible for sales tax and transfer fee.
18. Buses must be removed from the grounds by Friday (7/30) noon to receive payment.
19. Buses will be available on a first come first paid basis.
20. Must have 3 or more short buses to have a class.
21. All participants will be subject to the above rules and pay a $20.00 entry fee.
22. There is to be no alterations to the chassis length or the physical look of the bus.  Overall bus length of 30 feet or longer race in long bus class.  Under 29’11” race in short bus class. (Not cutting top of bus off!!).
